Claudia Catarzi

Claudia Catarzi - Italy

Claudia was born in Prato, Italy, in 1983.

She trained in Italy and abroad, studying amongst others with Marina Van Hoecke, J. Hamilton, I. Azpillaga, D. Zambrano, R. Graziadei, O. Naharin, L. Ayguade, D. Jalet, M.A. de Mey, C. Carlson, N. Little and K.J.Holmes.

In 2009 she was a guest with the O. Naharin’s Batsheva Dance Company (Israel). As improviser she took part in performances with K. Duck, S. Smith and J. Hamilton. She also does personal projects, such as Arrivò senza colore; a co-production with Sosta Palmizi (Un giorno finalist at Premio Equilibrio 2010, Roma).

In 2011 Claudia creates the solo Qui, ora – the work she will also perform during this edition of Dance Roads. This piece was created with the support of “Contemporanea Festival/Teatro Metastasio Stabile della Toscana” and “Inteatro” (Polverigi, Ancona). With this work she wins two artistic residencies at “Centro Coreografico de la Gomera” at the Canary Islands and at “Mercat de Les Flors” in Barcelona. This work was also selected for the “NID Platform/Piattaforma della Danza Italiana 2014” and for the Aerowaves Spring Forward Festival 2014.

The second solo 40.000 centimetri quadrati was selected for the “Visionari/Kilowatt 2014”. In 2015 she dances for S. Waltz & Guests in the Tannhauser and in 2016 she will premiere with her new creation, “Time”, realized within the European project “Be SpecACTive!”
